Gun Girl

There's a mysterious trend in anime lately.  Is it just me, or are there a lot of shows about anime characters that represent some kind of hobby object?  By that I mean like how the girls in Kancolle are boats and the Touken Ranbu boys are swords?
I bring it up because today I've brought a girl who I think falls into that category.  This is Sako, or more specifically SAKO Rk 95 Tp from the anime Upotte!!  From what I could gather from the wikipedia page, Upotte is an anime where the characters are representative of guns, similar to the other anime I mentioned earlier.  I'm not even sure what I'd call this sort of genre...  Anthro-hobby-object anime????  Not to be mistaken with the other category of "Girls in Hobby Club" like K-ON, Bakuon and C3-Bu.  These moe anime are becoming confusing...
